Which #BlackBerry browser to use?
There are several different browsers on the BlackBerry;
WAP Browser or Carrier Browser
The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Browser views Wireless Markup Language (WML) web pages. This browser is provided by the service provider. The WAP browser’s name and icon typically varies between service providers.
BlackBerry Browser
The BlackBerry® Browser views HTML web pages both on the Internet and the work intranet. It is available if the BlackBerry smartphone is integrated with an email account using one of the following:
Internet Browser
The Internet Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone views HTML web pages. Some service providers enable the Internet Browser as part of the BlackBerry Internet Service. The Internet Browser is available if the BlackBerry smartphone has BlackBerry Device Software 3.7 or higher
Hotspot Browser
The Hotspot Browser allows Wi-Fi network access to the Internet without using the BlackBerry® Internet Service or a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. This feature is more suitable for use in hotspots rather than an organization’s network because it represents an unsecured path to the Internet that bypasses security provided by the BlackBerry Internet Service and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
How to change?
1. Open up whichever browser you use
2. choose Options
3. Browser Configuration
4. set Browser to which one you choose

How to capilalize a letter quickly on your #BlackBerry
This will save you a ton of time and you will probably shake your head and wish you knew this years ago.
Press and hold a letter key just a fraction of a second longer than normal and it will capitalize it.

How do I put music on to my #BlackBerry?
Though you can do this through your Desktop Software it is easier to do it this way!
You should be putting music on to your Memory card (SD Card)

Plug your USB cable into your laptop or PC
- Connect the other small end to the blackberry
- Your computer will recognize the connection with your BlackBerry and you may see a message on your BlackBerry that says “Do you want to turn Mass Storage Mode?”
- Say YES. If you have a password you will need to enter that too.
- Your PC might say ” Open folder to view files” , Click on that an you will see a folder called “BlackBerry”
- Click on the BlackBerry Folder and you will see a Music Folder, click on that to open
- Go to where your music is on your PC and highlight the music files you like to download into your blackberry.
- There are two ways you can copy them over to the blackberry
- Right click copy then right click paste into the destination folder where you Music directory is in step 6.

- Highlight the music files then drag and drop into the folder.
9. That is it! Unplug your BlackBerry and enjoy listening to your music.

This month’s tips are all about BlackBerry® Messenger. Learn how to add contacts to BBM™ by email, PIN, and barcode; start a chat; create a group; send a file; and show your BBM contacts your current location on BlackBerry Maps.
What is BlackBerry Messenger?
BBM is like text messages, but more immediate and with more things you can do. Think instant messaging, but on your BlackBerry® smartphone. You can see who is available, start chatting with friends, set up groups, get instant replies, and share files—all this from virtually any location.
BBM also outshines texting in that you can share pictures, lists, and calendar appointments with a group.
TIP 1: ADD BBM CONTACTS
Option 1: Use a PIN or email
- On the BBM contact list screen, press the Menu key.
- Click Invite Contact.
- Click Enter a person’s email address, PIN, or name.
- If necessary, change the Send Using field and/or Category fields.
- Click Send.
Note: The person might remain in the Pending category until he or she responds to your invitation.
Option 2: Use barcodes
Want a quick way to add a friend to your BBM contact list? Try scanning the BBM barcode from their BlackBerry smartphone. Simply scan your friend’s barcode and presto!, they are added to your BlackBerry Messenger contact list.
Find your barcode
- On the BBM contact list screen, press the Menu key and click My Profile.
- Click Display My Barcode.
Scan a barcode
- On the BBM contact list screen, press the Menu key and click Invite Contact.
- Click Scan a person’s barcode, then click Continue.
- Hold your smartphone so that all four corners of the barcode you are scanning appear on your device screen. Continue to hold the smartphone until you hear a beep.

TIP 2: START A CHAT
- On the BBM contact list screen.
- Type your message.
- Press the Enter key.
TIP 3: CREATE A BBM GROUP
Stay connected with groups of friends, family, or co-workers by creating groups of BBM contacts.
- On the BBM contact list screen, press the Menu key and click Create New Group.
- Type a name for the group.
- Type a description that people will see when they receive the invitation to the group.
- Change the Group Icon field.
- Perform any of the following actions:
- To prevent members from inviting other people to the group, change the Allow non-admin members invite others field to No.
- To prevent the group icon from appearing on the Home screen of your BlackBerry device, change the Show on Home Screen field to No.
- Click Create Group.
TIP 4: SEND A FILE TO A CONTACT
You can send files, photos, voice notes, and contacts to your BBM contacts (requires BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 or later and may not be available for all users).
- In BBM, during a chat, press the Menu key.
- Click Send File.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- To send a picture, click Picture. Click Camera to take a new picture, or click a saved picture. Type a caption. Click Send. If necessary, select a picture size option. Click OK.
- To send a document, click File. Click a file.
- To send a voice note, click Voice Note. Click Start to record your message. Click Stop when you are finished recording. Click Send.
- To send a contact an attachment of a contact from the address book, click BlackBerry Contact. Click a contact.
- To send a contact an attachment of a BBM contact, click Messenger Contacts. Click one or more contacts. Click OK.
TIP 5: SHARE YOUR LOCATION (SO COOL)
A cool BBM feature uses GPS technology to send your location to a BBM contact, who can then see where you are on BlackBerry Maps. (This feature may not be available for all users.)
- In BBM, during a chat, press the Menu key.
- Click Send Location.
Your contact will now be able to see your location.

Why do you see so many icons for email on my #BlackBerry?
Do you have an icon called Messages? Desktop? Your email accounts too?
What is the difference between the desktop and the mail icon?
The ‘Messages’ folder is a kind of like a catch all that will show you all emails, texts and messages.
The icon with an envelope is BES related Desktop account
The icon with the globe is specific to each individual email account.
Each email account that you setup will have its own icon in addition to the ‘messages’ icon that is already there. Hope that clears it up!
