QWERTY Keyboards and Warranties

Does everyone know what QWERTY means?   It takes its name from the first six characters seen in the far left of the keyboard's top row of letters. Do you recall me always recommending QWERTY type BlackBerrys?   Well, if there was a bright light with my ordeal with Bell and my new 9700 having a hardware failure 2 days after the 30 day warranty expired, it would be that the loaner Pearl Flip, I have actually come to like.  Ok, I don’t love it but I like the keyboard size. It is bigger than the other Pearls which makes it easier to type.   The drawback still is that it doesn't come with as many shortcuts and I will be happy to get back my bold in another month or so but still.....  Read on about warranties and repairs

Tips Refresher

Did you know that by using all the tips available on your BlackBerry that you can save up to 1 hour a day?  Yes, you heard right.  If you have taken our workshops, I sure hope you are using them.  Remember Autotext and that  it can populate words, sentences, paragraphs with an acronym?   Here are a few reminders for you.

Restore your BlackBerry Backup

If you are on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) and you have had problems restoring part of a database, this is what you do.  Warning, you do need to understand thoroughly what you are doing but we have had several questions regarding "why is it grayed out" when I try, so we posted a blog entry for everyone to know how to do it.  Called restoring a read only database.

BIS Account

What is BIS?  BlackBerry Internet Service.   If you forward your email to your device then you are using a BIS account.   You really should understand what you can do with it  and how you logon.   What we find it that sometimes the resellers or carriers advertise that they will set  you up to forward your email but what ends up happening is that they set up a carriername.blackberry.net account for you and really do you use that?  Usually you want your business account or personal account, not some new blackberry account.    If you don't understand this process and would like to learn more we are considering offering a FREE webinar on this.   Less than 30 minutes.
